The tilting-pad journal bearing mainly bears radial load, it also can bear certain impact loads and imbalance loads. It is mainly used for centrifugal blower, high-speed centrifugal compressor, steam turbine, turbo-generator and other rotating machinery.
The tilting-pad journal bearing is made of double-layer composite. The low carbon steel composite layers of matrix are made of Babbitt alloy. The pad of the bearing fixes the pad on the matrix by axial radial positioning. It ensures the pad can form oil wedge after inclining freely under the effect of rotational speed and loads according to the design of proper appearance structure and high precision processing.
The tilting-pad thrust bearing mainly bears axial loads, it also can bear certain impact loads. It is mainly applied to electric submersible pump unit.
The tilting-pad thrust bearing is made of three layers composite, which are matrix—copper layer—the composite material layer. The matrix of it is made of steel which is treated by special method. The composite material of pad appearance is made of modified tetrafluoroethylene, so it can get the lower friction coefficient and better heat resistance. This kind of bearing is easy to implement hydrodynamic lubrication, because it has special processing technology, high-precision size of pad and proper thickness of oil film.
Fixed-pad thrust bearing is fixed on the matrix. It can produce oil wedge and get dynamic pressure by very tiny deformation. In order to solve the heat dissipation problem which is caused by sliding friction, the whole friction is divided into several fixed pad in the circumferential direction. The fixed pad with this structure can form a whole with matrix. The material is ZYTCu-10.
The tilting-pad thrust-journal bearing can bear radial load and axial load. It can form the stable hydrodynamic lubrication oil film in the radial direction and axial direction. It possesses the comprehensive performance of tilting-pad journal bearing and tilting-pad thrust bearing. The pad materials are Babbitt alloy and three-layer composite.
